I am Usha wanvasi from Alipur madra village of Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh. The founder of Utthan foundation, Mr. Sanjeev kumar gupta is not less than a messenger of god for our community. Because of his efforts our village has drastically transformed in the last 5-6 years.
He started an ‘Ekal Vidyalaya’ (evening school) for the children of our village. More than 30 kids study in this school every evening from class 1 to 6. My sister got the job of teacher in the school and now she is helping the family by earning along with her studies.
He also initiated and built a big community hall in our village. In that hall sewing workshops for girls are held on a regular basis, the evening school functions everyday. And that hall is also used by the villagers for all the marriage and other ceremonies. We also use the hall in times of heavy rains, flood or in any adverse situation.
Sanjeev sir has also provided employment for many other educated youths of the village like me as teachers, laborer, salesman etc. because of him every child of our village is getting education and no one is homeless anymore. We have been living the life of ignorance since many years but now we take advantage of all the government schemes and have all the required documents. We live a respectful and knowledgeable life now because of Sanjeev sir.
